Introducing STATERA 5.0: The Future of Environmental Obligation Management Has Arrived

Today marks a defining moment for ENFOS and for organizations responsible for managing Environmental Obligations at enterprise scale.

Over the past year, we took a deliberate step back to reflect on ENFOS’s 25 years as a bootstrapped software business and what it takes to continue earning the right to serve the world’s most complex industrial enterprises. That reflection reinforced a simple truth: enduring software companies continuously reinvest, evolve, and innovate to align with the market they serve.

In response, we modernized ENFOS to align our platform, operating model, and product strategy with the expectations of a category-defining SaaS company. That work began by clearly defining the Environmental Obligation Management category, the governed workflow our customers operate within, and the problems faced by the stakeholders accountable for it, including CFOs, Controllers, technical accounting leaders, and ARO and ERO operations teams responsible for governance, audit readiness, and long-term financial risk.

Today we are delivering more than an answer to those challenges. We are redefining what is possible.

STATERA 5.0 is now live.

A Ground-Up Platform Redesign Purpose Built for the EOM Workflow

This is not an incremental update. STATERA 5.0 represents a complete architectural redesign of the ENFOS platform, rebuilt and productized to align with the Environmental Obligation Management workflow.

Environmental Obligation Management is executed through a governed, multi-step accounting workflow consisting of five stages: Identification, Assessment, Measurement, Report, and Derecognition. Assessment, Measurement, and Report operate continuously at the intersection of Finance, Accounting, Operations, Legal, and the external environmental supply chain. When this workflow is fragmented across spreadsheets, point solutions, and disconnected processes, risk compounds through inconsistent assumptions, manual reconciliation, and weak audit defensibility.

Every layer of STATERA 5.0 has been designed to productize this workflow and enforce governance, transparency, accountability, and predictability at enterprise scale. The platform centralizes financial, scientific, and operational data within a single system of record, establishing sovereignty over workflow and dominion over data.

As a result, STATERA 5.0 gives enterprises a single, governed platform to manage Environmental Obligation Management end to end, from board-level oversight and audit scrutiny down to asset- and site-level execution, within one consistent system of record.

The Plan Solution: A Modernized Foundation for Obligation Planning

At the core of STATERA 5.0 is the modernized Plan solution.

Plan is the governed planning layer of the ENFOS platform that measures and forecasts Environmental Obligations by converting future obligation cash flows into real-time liability balances. It structures the assumptions that drive Environmental Obligations, including scope, timing, cost profiles, escalation, discount and inflation rates, and period activity, so Finance can plan and manage obligation spend with confidence.

Plan is not a static model or one-time forecast. It is an ongoing, governed planning framework that connects execution spend to the balance sheet and ensures Environmental Obligations remain explainable, defensible, and reconcilable each reporting period.

Introducing the ARO Module: Asset Retirement Obligations, Purpose-Built

Building on this foundation, STATERA 5.0 introduces a new, purpose-built ARO Module.

Asset Retirement Obligations do not exist in isolation. They are tightly linked to Environmental Remediation Obligations, regulatory oversight, and long-term financial planning. Historically, organizations have managed ARO in silos, relying on spreadsheets, disconnected models, and manual reconciliation processes that introduce financial risk, audit exposure, and inconsistent reporting outcomes.

The ARO Module brings Asset Retirement Obligation management directly into the ENFOS platform, unified with Environmental Remediation Obligation under a single Environmental Obligation Management system of record. Obligations governed by ASC 410-20 and ASC 410-30 now live together, share assumptions and controls, and support consistent, audit-ready reporting across reporting periods.

No other solution delivers this level of unified governance. ENFOS enables Asset Retirement Obligation and Environmental Remediation Obligation to be planned, governed, and reported within one controlled, finance-first workflow.

Why This Matters Now

Environmental Obligations are no longer buried line items. Regulators expect compliance. Auditors expect defensibility. Investors and boards expect transparency.

The organizations that succeed will be those with a single system of record, governed workflows, and the ability to plan, manage, and report Environmental Obligations with confidence. STATERA 5.0 delivers that foundation.

We built this for enterprises moving beyond spreadsheets. For finance leaders accountable for material Environmental Obligations. And for teams that require software designed for the full scope of Environmental Obligation Management.

This Is Just the Beginning

Launching STATERA 5.0 marks the beginning of a new era for ENFOS. It reflects a fundamental shift in how we build software, moving away from a bottom-up approach centered on remediation project management and toward a holistic, top-down, finance-first model led by the Office of the CFO to enable cross-functional alignment, enterprise-wide adoption, and disciplined execution across ARO and ERO reporting.

This platform redesign establishes the architectural and workflow foundation for what comes next, designed to compound in capability, scale with our customers, and serve as the enduring system of record for Environmental Obligation Management.

We invite you to explore STATERA 5.0, experience the modernized platform and the new ARO Module firsthand, and see what a purpose-built Environmental Obligation Management platform looks like.
